Workaholics at Brooklyn Bowl

WorkaholicsLast night I got to see a performance by the comedians Adam DeVine, Blake Anderson, and Anders Holm who make up the characters on the new Comedy Central show Workaholics premiering April 6. It was a promotional event hosted by Flavorpill at Brooklyn Bowl with beer sponsorship by Kelso.

Like any sketch comedy show, there is always some awkwardness within the sketches where you never know if you should laugh or cringe. The Workaholics live show opened with the guys arguing over how Anders is a bad drinker. This is expressed whenever he takes a sip of beer and emo songs start playing like “Delilah,” “Everybody Hurts,” and “Mrs. Robinson.” Meanwhile, “Justin Timberlake,” “Usher,” and “Journey” play when Adam and Blake drink their beers. Then, Anders explains the reason he’s so depressed: he went to Iraq…where Kid Rock and Bruno Mars performed at a USO Concert. When he finally admits this, he takes a sip of beer and Ke$ha plays. Needless to say, I laughed at this.

All in all, I found it to be stupidly funny but we’ll see if the tv show ends up being too crass for my taste…
